Welcome
To Our Site...
Welcome to "The Official
Roots Tour Website!" Ocho Rios or "Eight Rivers" is the
second major tourist town on the North Coast with a wide
range of accommodations, pristine beaches, airstrip and
modern cruise facilities. Each year it attracts more
than 700,000 tourists about 350,000 of these from cruise
ships.
The town makes a great
base for exploring both the coast and the lush interior with
its fast flowing rivers and the many waterfalls, and
beautiful tropical gardens. If you don't want to spend
all your time on the beach or in the water, you can go
Calypso rafting or hiking.
If shopping is what you are after, there is a mixture of
modern strip malls & shopping centers catering to tourists.
Everything is conveniently located side by side on Main
Street which lies just east of the Cruise Terminal.
On Main Street (upstairs in the Ocean Village Shopping
Centre), along with banks, restaurants, a Post Office, the
Ocho Rios Craft & Vegetable Markets. The markets are
lively & fun. Jamaica's deep rich history must be
understood to appreciate the diversity. Along the
waterfront and within walking distance are high-rise resorts
where you can swim, soak up the sun & enjoy your favorite
water sport. The single most important historic site
of interest is Ocho Rios Fort (near Reynolds Pier).
This 17th-century structure has recently been renovated &
contains two original cannons.
